bespoken is a music mentorship program offering support to women in classical, contemporary, and jazz. Through one-on-one mentoring and group workshops, bespoken supports musicians interested in developing their skills, advancing their projects, and charting their career path. 

 

bespoken seeks a Digital Communications Intern for credited student internships only. This position is responsible for managing social media platforms, developing content and strategies, researching relevant topics and people of interest, and coordinating bespoken's bi-monthly newsletter. 

 

A successful candidate will be detail-oriented and thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented environment. S/he will possess a positive demeanor, take the initiative, and demonstrate an ability to think creatively. S/he will also learn about best practices in the music business, practical application and skills development, and have the opportunity to gain valuable experience and make connections in the professional industry that they are considering for career paths.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in strategizing, implementing, and disseminating content to relevant social media platforms

  • Assist in generating platform-specific copy, graphic designs, and video material

  • Work with the team to create and implement social media campaigns

  • Engage with posts to bring value to the audience's interactions

  • Monitor analytics and report on the activity of social media platforms to identify viable ideas for future campaigns

  • Manage and maintain email marketing lists

  • Coordinate and research relevant topics of interest for bespoken's bi-monthly newsletter

  • Assist in facilitating and coordinating bespoken's interview series with participating fellows and leading music professionals

Qualifications:

  • A background and working knowledge of music and performing arts 

  • Strong interest in classical, contemporary, and jazz

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and current social media trends

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to use data to measure results and deliver analytics

  • Familiarity with Photoshop, Canva, Final Cut Pro (or related video editing software), and Mailchimp

  • Team player who enjoys working collaboratively; and can handle tasks independently

  • Ability to work flexible hours. This internship is available for academic credit only. S/he will work remotely with in-person meetings and calls. Flexible start and end date.
